Everyday on video standup vs async updates on slack?

we go back and forth depending on how much coordination is needed for what we're doing

IMO, when you scale to more people , async updates are helpful. But also depends on person to person and if people are in different time zones

async today with a team of 3. curious how/if this scales with team size wrt cognitive load of everyone staying up to-date

1-2x video standup a week, but make it meaningful. Would keep the text updates for status updates and standup for resolving problems / blockers or issues that touch upon issues that affect a significant share of team. Otherwise no one really listens + only useful for the manager.
