Animation is much easier to do - lower budget, easier production etc :)

Ofc there are tiers here and it's harder to make Toy Story 3 than an indie movie. But if you compare Toy Story-level animations with Marvel-level movies, it's easier to make Toy Story

Also, you can create a relatively (to Hollywood) low-cost animations and achieve tremendous popularity - see: Family Guy, South Park, DBZ & whole anime. It's much harder with low-cost movies & TV series imo

Animation is like writing software where you have full control over the process, whereas filmmaking is like building hardware with many moving parts, you can't fully control.
