+1. Also, the hard truth is that life is a game of tradeoffs. If you don't like commuting for 3 hrs, change the job for something's closer to you. If you can't find a job closer to you, improve your skills so you'll get it. If there's no jobs closer to you, rent something closer to the office, even if it's smaller.

I once worked in NYC and had co-workers that regularly commuted on the train 2hrs each way every day for the work… it was depressing to calculate how much of their life was being thrown in the garbage. I vowed never to be in that situation
