i have my ENS name bought for many years to come and TIL that my base.eth name has been taken by the address:

is there any plan to prevent these people from impersonating original .eth names and scamming people?

Yeah it sucks but I grabbed TheNounishProf which is my primary anyway. Someone definitely went thru Farcaster and snapped them up.

that is exactly why I immediately minted my name as Basename. that is also why Basenames are such a bad idea. 

all L2s should just use ENS. Period. Basenames cause confusion and possibly risk of impersonation. Base made crypto just a bit unsafer.

that's acceptable that everyone can buy a domain. my problem is that I bought my ENS, and this is where I build my reputation. if there are .base.eth subnames, it can let bad actors use my reputation to exploit people.

maybe if we see more subdomains in use these impersonations wouldn't work, but atm it feels weird.
