TIL that the US has less paid vacation than Japan

I guess it also explains why Americans travel so little. It's hard to go to e.g., Europe for 2 weeks if you don't have vacation time. And you can't go there for a weekend as the flight takes 10h, you have a jetlag etc

Yeah, it's tough. Maternity leave policies in the US are also quite limited, which is unfortunate. It’s something that really needs more attention.

Funny. Yet most people perceive Japanese as insane workaholics and US folks as having a good balance.

Not a surprise really, but we don't have a word dedicated to dying at work from exhaustion. The Japanese do. So, take that for what its worth.

The problem in Japan is that because of social presssure people don't take vacation. 

I remember a co-worker who in five years for a company took like one day off, and that was because she got sick.

Wait till you peak at their paid and sick leave situation. Gets even worse

not surprising for a nation historically built on slavery.

I didnt see the country in south east asia. It means that places is not interesting?

Some Workers in my country don’t even have an idea what a paid leave is, the term itself when brought out sounds bonkers to them! 

Long distances and travel times between continents make it difficult for Americans to make short trips, and time differences and jet lag can also be significant factors

What is difference between paid vacation and holyday?

Are you saying USA should be considered instead for Japan when picking out countries to visit during this summer
