From β€œChip War” by Chris Miller. WWII was won by American manufacturing. It should worry Americans that a rival country is the manufacturing superpower of the world today.

there's a book on WWII that goes into the specifics of the RAF production rate compared to the personnel available, and considering how the Battle of Britain effected a chain of events that decided the war, I do have a very healthy respect for just building a bunch of things at a frantic tempo.

if conflict were to escalate to the point of international conflict, I think there's still an untapped cottage production, despite the misappropriation of materiel in the past two decades. frankly, it's all the more worrisome that we don't precisely know the production capabilities.
