just found out that word population in 1929 was 1.5b and in 1950 was 2.5b idk why but I just assumed it had always been like 5b post 1900s lmao

there was an existential windfall from antibiotics, the ICE, & polymerization. oh, and nuclear energy. there was a time when food costs were 30% of income & everyone sorta dealt with child mortality on a regular basis.
