Back when Travis Kalanick was problematic for Uber, I made the conscious choice to try to only use Lyft. I did that same thing originally with OpenAI vs. Anthropic and used Claude for similar reasons but as it turns out Anthropic is mostly better anyway.

ngl I think Anthropic is just as ideologically bad as OpenAI, and the only way to use their products is a probationary "this is too good to not use" but the second they're outpaced, no reason to fund their market capture.

it’s dei for ai models and sadly the propaganda mostly comes from elon being mad at sam Ive never had consistently better answers from anthropic personally. And grok isn’t open source so obviously that shit didn’t matter. I’m just glad I get to know how the models work generally, and I want even better ones.

agreed, though the meta is compensating with costlier methods. my guess is that smol reasoning around simple GUI tools will yield the cost collapse that finally outpace proprietary anti-science model. FOSS can vibecheck like none other.

I want better models which requires more money which requires capitalism I wonder why does nobody seem to recognize Elon wants to be the “godfather” and new owner of ai post openai? he’s closed source.

there's a pincer off cost collapse jevons paradox compensates, so third party usage explodes, driving a more scrutinizing culture. meanwhile, even opensource teams are running blackbox research agents to keep up with competing weight releases. capitalism has its evolutionary trap: oligopolies that copycat and slow down without a disrupting firm. we may see this even with meta paying for llama and high-flyer paying for deepseek. agreed that grok is closed, but the culture is still downstream of X, possibly downstream of HF. cost collapse will lead to market itself being the better model in aggregate, otherwise we stray further into leaking our private details to what may be nationalized anyway. the goal should be moving the plot along, so smol wrappers can protect or even expand consumer value.
