My general career advice for people in their 20s - Figure out what you want to be when you grow up - If that's too hard, figure out where you want to be in 5 years - Work backwards from there, what's the best next move that gets you closer to that goal - Optimize for 1 thing at a time; optimizing for multiple things usually leads to worse near-term decisions - Avoid side quests rationalizing the optionality or ability to return the main quest later

Does this mean I should stop building things like usehousematch.com or find.farcaster.info on the weekend and focus things which better help achieve my goal (eg financial independence by 30) Or should someone not be too prescriptive about how to reach that ultimate goal

That’s the most ominous :) the protocol will ever see How would the answer change if the big goal was Rate Of Learning Presumably the answer is ‘working in a challenging industry on a challenging problem in a challenging role’?
