At world blitz championship in Dec Dubov no-show forfeited against suspected cheater Hans. They continued beefing after, then all of a sudden out of nowhere they arranged an 18-game IRL blitz match in Moscow, 10K charity donation and polygraph interrogation for the winner. Pretty epic beef and stakes tbh

Most chess players aren’t very active on social media and it’s just kind of hard to passively follow chess. I have enough of a social footprint being interested in chess that my lack of knowledge about the event to some extent is a failure of the system. I was kinda shitposting but I do think it’s an area of opportunity for next gen social/web3 social to improve
