I would really benefit from some advice Last year, I built a house search product for people seeking places to rent, called Housematch Two months ago, I joined a social impact startup that helps homeless people get jobs and find places to rent (150 ppl, raised an impressive series A this year) My colleagues are desperate to use Housematch in their work. One of them wrote 700 words to advocate to leadership. I’ve never felt so close to PMF I estimate it could save my company $100,000 per year I want to charge a subscription for it But I would also have to do 2 weeks work to add features to achieve those savings (would probs take holiday time) I feel very apprehensive about this inevitable negotiation Why? - i feel odd about negotiating hard against my company, and I feel a bit like I’m working both sides - I want to continue in my job in the nice work environment - there’s something about exploiting monetising the social impact aspect Advice much appreciated

"I want to continue in my job in the nice work environment" You should be able to just do that. If that decision hinges on the negotiation above then make it part of the deal. No employer wants to let go amazing people. And people selling cool shit to companies that need said cool shit are those very amazing people. So that is you right there. Go get it.
