Reading this the authors strongest critique does seem to be ideological rather than scientific
But in that spirit I didn’t find it particularly compelling with ref to Harari in particular 
The essay dismisses Kevin Kelly as a “magazine publisher”, pretty disingenuous 

I think Harari is a product of the market
