How do you apply psychology to marketing? I understand that the behavior of the users has much to do but I would love to understand your thought of process!

(Part I) My rather simple hack is to always have a list of biases I can refer to. Even though behavioural economics/psychology is far from an exact science, there's a lot of intuitive wisdom in there.

(Part II) I use these truths about human psychology as inspiration for writing copy, designing products (e.g. onboarding flows), and overall strategy (e.g. referrals/retention)

Recency bias (stuff that happened recently seems more probable) 
Confirmation bias (famous one)
Survivorship bias (too much weight to one piece of data)
Halo effect (ppl ascribe authority/quality if you are a nice person)
Loss aversion (ppl hate losing what they have)
