ChatGPT saved my life (No, Seriously, I’m Writing this from the ER) How using AI as a bridge when doctors aren't available can improve patient-to-doctor communications in real time emergencies Or: WTF is actually going on with the current healthcare system!?!? https://hardmodefirst.xyz/16N1rpSxgio2llSYcrdV

hiya, bethany, i’m pleased to hear you’re stable and getting the care you need and the AI support to better advocate for yourself in the healthcare system as both a physician assistant and frequent chatgpt user, i really appreciate you sharing your amazing story here i was thinking a while back about the need for what i called “medvocates,” or medical advocates to serve as sort of a user interface between patients and a healthcare system so complex and often inefficient or outright broken that no one can reasonably navigate it without assistance. at the time, i imagined this as a service humans — licensed healthcare professionals — could provide. but stories like yours are increasingly convincing me that AI can go a long way toward doing what i envisioned a medvocate doing. wow! also, i’m so curious to know more about your medical mystery if you feel like sharing later. ITP? TTP? DIC? something else? 🤔

I have found AI to be an incredible helpful “interpreter layer” for basically any job I do today: - AI legal interpreter to help me prepare for a talk with a lawyer - AI engineer interpreter to help me structure my product ideas for an engineer to parse - AI medical assistant to help me structure my unstructured thoughts and parse complex medical lingo What I’ve found most helpful about sticking with ChatGPT (vs another tool) is that OpenAI already has long context about me. It knows I think and speak in metaphors, it knows I need a little emotional encouragement. Out of the box tools require context training on me the human that takes time to cultivate As for solving the medical mystery of it all — LOL. Your guess is as good as mine (though ITP is prime suspect at the moment, cause unknown). Staying at least another night to try to get to the bottom of it…will keep you posted
