Many channels, some of which have followers in the thousands or even tens of thousands, turned many active participants into de facto lurkers with no casting privileges. Spam is down, sure, but so is a lot of worthwhile community dialogue. Farcaster feels blander and more sterile.

Examples?

Outside of a few massive channels from the old model (which are slowly adding people back), 99% of channels were anyone with a cast in the main feed in the last 90 days.

Base

/base seems to have very little chatter — and therefore very little content of interest — for a channel as massive as it is.

Just seems to me the proportion of active channel members — those who have a voice and use it — must be in some way reflective of how vibrant the channel/community is.

They previously had a lot of work to do battling spam.
