Looking for people who are frustrated with the changes and new direction for channels. Last week, we got a lot of good feedback from people happy with / excited about the changes. See below. Now I want to highlight what's still not working for people. Specifically: 1. What's frustrating? 2. What would make it better? https://warpcast.com/dwr.eth/0xcf622e07

a lot of messages from @paybot (and @swapbot) are getting posted below the fold it's really annoying to have to be a member of every channel to solve this as people use paybot in all sorts of channels i'm not necessarily familiar with especially frames posted from paybot with the cast action (that don't have a bot command summoning paybot to reply)

The main thing that I find myself looking for is the way to become a member. From my experience there are lots of different ways (gated, not possible, free to enter etc.) but it's actually not clear if and how I can join. Some channels have it as a link, some others as a pinned cast but there is no clear and standardized path.

1. getting daily DMs from people to add them to channels even in those where I've pinned a frame. Adding someone from a DM is many clicks. Not interested in spending 5 mins a day to be a moderator. 2. many channels I created no longer make sense, but I now automatically have the above moderator burden to set up these channels 3. No good frames to moderate membership for things like the /berlin channel or the /frames-devs channel. Don't want to exclude non power badge holders or non followers. 4. Want to be able to create a cast that only posts after I'm approved to a channel. I have an idea, but then can't share it until approved. By the time I'm approved I've moved on 5. Having to entirely relearn how channels work every few months is getting kinda tired

I don't like how channel feeds are only in reverse chronological order now. It makes it easy for good casts to disappear fast in large channels.

Low priority but something I ran into a few times that was annoying was needing the user to follow the channel in order to be invited as a member. Created several back-and-forth not just being able to invite directly, especially if they asked

How can I tell whether I am a member of a channel (rather than just following it)? How do I become a member of a channel? Where do I find the information about how to become a member of a channel?

overcomplicated cryptoeconomic solution incoming: 1. register for normal cost 2. look at channel activity 3. less channel activity, specifically from organic power user non-bot whatevers however you rank organic good users == higher price later squishy harberger tax, charge them more when they aren't using channels the way the ecosystem wants them to be used.

Just wanted to cast the following to /ocean. It felt relevant to the channel, and would help grow this small community of ocean lovers with conversational liquidity topical to them. But, I’m not a member. I could click on the owner button, figure out who that is, DM them if allowed, and wait for admission, which might take 12 hours at best (I’m in Asia), or forever at worst (if the owner has churned). Much less friction for me at this point to not cast in a channel at all, or cast in my own /thomas channel (which I ended up doing). So now the ocean lover can either follow a dead channel, or use the search feature to find relevant content in non descriptive channels. I don’t feel like I’ve gained anything with this latest update, but I can see what I’ve lost. https://warpcast.com/aviationdoctor.eth/0x9ff57b6d

I think we could use some guidance on what channels “should be” in the future. How big is too big? How niche should we be? Should /food even exist or should that be a “category” we can sort our channels into? I think most people are unsure what to do with their channels. This is a big cultural shift and any though leadership would be appreciated.

I think the only frustration now is that you can’t just cast a topic in a channel you feel it’s meant for anytime you want.

One thing that would be useful is that every channel requires to specify a way to become a member when creating it. It could be a hypersub, owning a fan token or another token, and so on. Not every channel has the "instructions" in the pinned.

1. What's frustrating? There are too many channel owners who are inactive or absent, which slows down the overall engagement and growth of the channels. Additionally, the forced termination of the streak maintenance feature was discouraging for many users who used it as a motivation to stay engaged with FC. Lastly, when sharing a frame, it’s frustrating to realize later that I’m not subscribed to a channel, which forces me to cancel the cast. 2. What would make it better? A system to better manage inactive or absent channel owners would help keep channels active and engaging. It would also be great if there was a way to reintroduce the streak maintenance feature in some form, as it was a key motivator for many users. Finally, improving the UX by automatically checking if users are subscribed to a channel before allowing them to share frames would reduce the need to cancel casts.

Why remove the owners of channel info? it was not really necessary before, but it kinda is now if you want to ask a channel owner to join their channel and has been removed? Used to be you could see the owner on warpcast.

Channels should be open by default. If a moderator wants to make people have to join, then the current system seems okay. But that should be an option, not a requirement. Imagine being a new user here and coming and you can't even post anywhere. Why would you stay?

What's frustrating? The fact that we need permission from a small handful of mods to access a supposed permissionless social network. I don't care about being "in the club", I just want to read and talk about things I find interesting. "Ohh but channels are like twitter spaces now!" Ok WHY? Twitter spaces suck ( a few people talking while everybody is just in the audience). Why is this the direction? What wasn't working with channels that they needed to be like Twitter spaces? Was it merely the spam / low effort content? https://warpcast.com/superphiz.eth/0xeeea1f28
