For me, it doesn’t help. My principal being violated is crypto looked around and instead of building usability was like fuck it let’s build another chain to compete with 5 other valid options already deployed. 

What necessary functionality did base add that I couldn’t already get on polygon or base?

Replace “standards” with “chains,” and that’s where it feels like we’re at.
