Also, we are in 2024 and you need a little book to be stamped? Best not to lose it otherwise you can't go back home (as a non immigrant living in the US losing my passport with my Visa inside could also mean losing my job)

This part I agree with. I understand the point of passports and visas. But they should be digitized (not only paper).

Yes even though as a European I am glad open borders exist (Schengen area) I also can understand the needs of some borders and Visas. It's just that the passport in itself should be digital, we will get there eventually
