I finally finished Book 1 of Dune. I have found myself preferring the sweet opiate of the scroll lately to the more active and healthy pleasures of a book lately, so it took me awhile. 

It was amazing, yes, but I also feel an overwhelming sense of relief that I finally checked the box off for nerd cred 🤓

The end of Dune is so abrupt IMHO.  Messiah is much shorter (I think about 1/3rd the length) and explores the ramifications of the jihad Paul was afraid of.

It’s not possible to fully appreciate the first book without reading the first trilogy. It’s true I am probably the biggest Dune snob there is, tho.

I heard Messiah is 😴 😬 should I? I suppose I should. I need a brief break and then will come back 🫡
