I was all in on Railway, but I've had way too many frustrations with it. Things that SHOULD just work often don't and debugging is hard since you don't have access to the shell console for the server (which originally I thought was a great thing). I've moved as much of my backend code to Cloudflare workers and if I need long-running processes, I'm back on Digital Ocean.

I keep going back to Digital Ocean...all of my longest-running apps are on Digital Ocean.

People are scared of DevOps but learn a little and you have more resilient systems.

Pleasantly surprised DO is still a top dog after all this time (2013 when I first used them)

I did basic php web hosting, skipped heroku, and DO was my first big boy server. I learned a ton and only stopped using it when I went all in on static site generators and Netlify.

I’m still scared but I do it and you’re right, I learn every time.
