I really appreciate ambition. I think it's important for some people to be ambitious since it is often a prerequisite to doing something great. But there is this weird perversion with ambition that portrays it as some kind of moral good. It's not -- if anything, it's totally orthogonal.

I like the distinction they make in the Baghavad Gita. Desires can be your sacred purpose or compulsions. Ambition is desire, and desire can turn into compulsion when you do it for the fruits of the labour rather than the labour itself.
