reading books parents only allowed 2 hours of TV/computer time on the weekend, but infinite reading time.....

What did you read? Did your parents encourage you to read certain books? We limit our son's screen time but he can read all he wants. He mostly just wants to read comic books though.

My parents never encouraged me to read anything specific but we’d take trips to the library and I loved reading. Things are so different now. My kid is too young to read but she’s already fluent in iPad despite screen time restrictions. I hope to change that when she’s literate.
