I don't know too much of the culture in Turkey. I'm exploring attending devconnect. What are things I should be aware of?

You wouldn’t need to dress any differently than you would when traveling in Europe unless you’re visiting a mosque or traveling to more conservative or rural areas of Turkey.

Avoid areas like Taksim Square and Istiklal Caddesi late at night. I’d recommend booking a place near the venue or the events you plan to attend afterward, so it’s easier to return to your place if you’re traveling alone. Be aware of your belongings for pickpocketing and purse snatching in touristy areas.

If you plan to use public transportation, I would plan ahead not to be late at night, especially if you plan to use bus or metro. I prefer to be with friends for any night activity and use a taxi.

Istanbul is a hub for many tourists, and it’s generally safe. But it is important to take precautions as you would in any other metropolis. It is best to avoid walking alone at night and be aware of your surroundings.
