Just learned from my accountant that since I moved from CA to NY in the second half of the year, I need to double pay my CA and NY taxes and then CA will reimburse me the amount I double paid at a later date. What a wild system

Also learned that CA will reimburse the double amount paid for NY state but specifically *not* NYC. So there is a part that is just double taxed

I moved from Sweden -> CA for ~4.5 years-> back to Sweden, can recommend for the IRL experience but not for the absolute nightmare that filing taxes in two countries is lol

Happened to me too when I moved from CA to NY. It sucked but Turbotax handled it for me luckily
