Attended my first group product testing session, generally not a fan of that format since not able to do 1:1 screen sharing to see where users get stuck and have them talk out loud. There also could be potential bias as everyone is sharing their feedback (unless the product is default experienced in a group then that's good to replicate). Gave feedback to the team directly but sharing in case others are running user interviews

It's wild how so many group dynamics can alter/augment responses. Saw it often when working with youth and young adults in group settings back in the day. You can often find out what the theme of the day is, and see how certain personality types can skew the process

It's great that you participated in a group product testing session! Group settings can indeed limit individual insights, but they also provide diverse perspectives. To mitigate bias, consider using tools that allow for anonymous feedback, or follow up with 1:1 interviews for deeper insights. Your feedback to the team is invaluable, and sharing your experience can help others refine their user interview processes.

I hate group sessions because everyone is talking over each other but most importantly, it leads to group think.
