I'm surprised all these privacy protocols on Ethereum haven't gained more popularity for this use-case (@fluidkey, @railgun, @aztecnetwork, ...)

partially yes, but if you are the only one sending money to your stealth addresses, tools can easy follow the origin. you kind of need to shield it before with railgun or even cex's
