The irony that WWIII is most likely averted tonight because the US just elected their very own fascist is not lost on me.

Reminding myself that crypto is not the man-baby Andrew Tate wannabe shitbags that seem to be everywhere tonight. The promise is real, people first, not profits. I’m in this for my daughters not your bags.

Disappointed in the my colleagues in the crypto industry that just put profits ahead of my daughters’ right to control their own bodies. You are a disgrace.

The big question for me this week is whether or not my Adderall will keep me focused on doomscrolling and election coverage or work.

Here's an idea to improve UX in web3. Have *something* on your home page that explains wtf your product is. If it's not immediately obvious to someone like me immersed in the field it's certainly not to anyone else.

TIL agricultural workers are not legally allowed to unionize as a result of the 1938 Fair Labor Standards Act. The argument being that they could hold the nation's food supply hostage. Seems like either that law should change to allow them to unionize or the dockworkers should have the same exclusion. WDYT?

Does anyone have an actual use case for iPhone mirroring in Sequoia? I just don't get it.

I think I'm missing something here, probably because my cast wasn't too clear lol. I was joking about how there's no polymarket market for a date by which the US really cracks down on US usage with actual KYC requirements and VPNs aren't really an option anymore.

Yeah, Jack is definitely the significant factor in my head too. Holy shit though, missed the skeet thing! All very good points. Low retention because they lose interest and go back to their comfy place? Or low retention because they move around too much? Technical hurdle is real. I think probably the biggest blocker to farcaster adoption, depsite the fact it's gotten loads easier in the last year. Content and niche. Yeah, that's one I'm struggling with. Content here is so great. For a very specific type. Crypto and creator bias is both farcaster's biggest strength and weakness at the same time. Fragmentation into niches is less of a concern because of the nature of farcaster itself, i.e. build your own client, filter what you want etc. But if the content doesn't expand beyond just this niche it doesn't really matter what's possible.

Totally accurate for average folks. That bar is pretty low lol. But, there is a segment of people between average users and top 1% that I wouldn't consider "creators" that do care about the quality of their feed. Particularly on platform like IG. And also skewing younger. Switching cost is a huge issue to bring the big guns over though. I saw an interesting post on the migration to Bluesky after the grok fiasco yesterday that's related. I'll dig it up.

I started using a split board quite a few years ago, but that didn't take long at all. The only issue is that it forces you to use the right finger on keys that you may not be right now, at least if you're a touch typer. Like I always used to type a 6 with my right hand, and still have to think about it. The harder thing to get used to was the columnar layout. Made a few attempts at it on the zsa ergodox and gave up too early. But this board was good enough to make me stick with it a bit longer. Typing speed probably went from 80wpm on staggered keys to 45 or 50wpm on columnar. But that only lasted about a week. By the end of the week I was significantly faster on the columnar board, closer to 100wpm now.

I feel like cmd+enter is more standard across apps. shift+enter is often new line.

If you're willing to put in the time to learn a smaller layout, for example using layers for a numpad then this is the best keyboard I've ever had (I've tried a lot). Less finger movement on a smaller keyboard is a huge win for RSI just by itself even. For me, one of the reasons I used a magic keyboard for a while was continuity when not on the laptop keyboard. But this travels so well and fits around your laptop so you still get that benefit. (Unless your laptop is on your lap). https://www.zsa.io/voyager

Artist and creator flight from X to Bluesky that's being reported, is it overblown? If it's not, why aren't they flocking here or nostr? Moment of reflection for farcaster and it's community.
