Congratulations! Check out Katsudon-ya Zuicho in Tokyo, simple but incredible. Ideally go earlier on a weekday (line can end up being long otherwise). I really enjoyed Nijō Castle in Kyoto. If you go to the classic touristy spot Sannenzaka go early! After around 11am the tight streets get really packed.

Other tip for Kyoto: do a bit of research or planning for food and maybe get reservations, we had trouble getting into restaurants. I think part of it was that it was during cherry blossom season so places were booked up. There were also some spots that were empty but they looked at us and said no ☠️
