What would the best way to introduce a 5-6 yo kid to computer programming, analytical thinking, tech in general? Some games designed for it? Actual programming languages (like logo with the turtle)? I want to see if my kid would be interested but also don't wanna pressure her

scratch.mit.edu At this point there must be a million good ways to learn. I'd start showing how to use the sprite editor to draw pictures, then show how to make the arrows make it move around, then maybe introduce walls that block, then gravity & forces.

Love this idea following thread Digital literacy is so important for kids. Teaching them computers will be super valuable down the line, so they don’t see all tech as magic

Might be a bit advanced if not at reading level yet but the 8 y/o and I got an ORIC Atmos setup with an old TV monitor last year. She seems to be having fun with the manual which walks you through learning BASIC by programming the Atmos from scratch. The manual itself is super accessibly written for kids and I think naturally nudges them to start messing around making simple games by the end of it. I would also bookmark the BASIC 10-liner challenge. Was going to recommend the programming language whose name could be interpreted as "Branflakes" however due to the profane nature of the actual name I do not think it would be suitable.

a friend of mine used to play that game there you make some squares on the ground and walk around them using the program - eg 2 steps forward, 1 step east etc
