It was on this day, 8 years ago that I was woken up by @thegrifft's call telling me that our creation, the DAO, was being drained.

That started the most stressful summer of my life, with hacking, forking, counter-hacking.

For better or for worse that summer changed ethereum forever.

That event has been such a defining moment for Ethereum ever since (and we still get FUD to this day for the decision to fork). I had some of my own ETH stuck in the DAO but was wary of forking precisely because of the long lasting implications.

Also, I can’t believe it’s been eight years already!
