somewhat, but the more important message is that Web2 is worse. You go viral, Zuck & Elon make all the money from ad revenue (and maybe they share a pittance with you w.r.t. Twitter). If crypto is a scam, Facebook is feudalism.

This misses the point. People don’t use Facebook or Twitter to make money—they use them because they’re useful. If crypto’s main value prop is “maybe you’ll get rich,” then what are we actually building? A casino… which is uninspiring

Maybe less so for FB/Twitter, but Insta / Tiktok / Youtube are definitely "maybe you'll be popular" platforms. And ppl do try to monetize via over-the-top deals like brand influence campaigns, product placements / reviews, etc. I don't think everyone needs to participate in the attention economy, but if they want to, we can do it better than web2. I agree with Jesse's take here:

Totally fair… clout chasing is real and people do try to monetize attention on Insta/TikTok/YouTube (tho I’d argue they care more about fame). But those platforms still deliver value even if you’re not trying to go viral. That’s the key difference. If crypto is only appealing because you might get rich, it’s not better than web 2
