Maybe you can help me out...if FHE doesn't support branching, then how can you ever perform general-purpose computation?

How can you build something like an ERC20 token without branching?

That's what I could never really get past when building with FHE in the past, I couldn't protect the balances in the accounts.

Is this possible?

Technically I think it’s possible, but may be too slow for practice.

Homomorphic usually refers to add and mult. From that you can do a whole lot of cool stuff.

Branching would be cool, but I’m happy with just fast add and mult in the beginning.

So will we eventually be able to compile Rust and other languages to some kind of FHE bytecode? Without having to use special libraries, and have if statements just work?

You can do branching on the fhEVM using the CMUX operator.

I take it is like programming a zk circuit. You still have to do all the math but you can multiply by 1 or 0 to make it valid or not
