seeing more and more attention paid to sound systems in cafes, bars, restaurants, etc.

not true hi-fi but broadly supports my initial prediction re: the trend.

Went to a bar in NYC that EQ’d out the mids and I was shocked how easy it was to talk at normal volume.

makes perfect sense, most of the human voice is in the lower mids

the other part of the equation is speaker placement and the room itself, the latter of which is usually way too full of hard reflective surfaces which harms speech intelligibility
