if its onchain, its a case of "why not both" open and accessible to the entire internet, and then you own and control how its presented.

I think historically data ownership implied “private and held by you and then sold / disclosed to service providers manually by you”. But yes, this new open data is often owned by you, but not on the way that data ownership advocates think.
