one of the easiest ways to gauge a startup’s culture is to listen to how often the founders say 'we' vs ‘i’ when talking about wins

ego is the mind killer

Feel like unnecessarily accepting responsibility is just another way of the ego reinforcing itself

how so? I think individual wins being group wins and losses being individual is a great way of removing ego from the equation. You’re in pursuit of intellectual honesty not praise

Depends on the loss

If you were responsible for a loss, of course you should acknowledge that. But the ego does this trick where it gains importance by owning up to losses that the individual couldn’t have prevented

That’s sometimes considered “good leadership” but it is neither intellectually honest nor healthy
