I grew up with my parents being devout followers of a religion that is basically a 400 year old version of the simulation theory.

The key metaphysical claim is this life is a dream, and on death you wake up in the real world.

“Waking up” is a key concept.

Personally, I think it’s all just an allegory for living a conscious life.

Life often does feel like a dream/simulation. Wouldn't want to wake up in the Matrix version though 😅 

But I guess the religious element means that the way you live your "dream" life affects the "woke" life?
