Should we introduce a new sign up tier to reduce the cost of signing up? 

Would be low cost (< 25c) but come with much smaller storage limits like maybe 10 casts, 100 follows or something like that.

only if it comes with some sort of spam throttling, otherwise we're going to get flooded by junk users

But it pays for the operational costs of the hubs

You’d have to store all the casts sent from non paying users.

Anybody could create infinite accounts and spam the network with casts causing the storage costs to skyrocket. So you need the user to pay for the storage, hence the $5 cost.

Didn’t imply that they should cut the cost to 0. Simply implying there need be a better solution than just reducing cost.
