It's weird to read about Notion's origins being rooted in minimalism and user-oriented design And then go use the product where they've spray and prayed AI CTAs everywhere I guess if you are a big enough tech company, you *have* to lean into AI or else your investors will get upset (note: this is a cargo cult)

i don't think it's just a 'have to do it for investors' thing like document/processor/productivity software it's so obviously ripe for disruption with AI with today's tech with no major leaps needed if you have one of those products and you're not integrating LLMs you'll get passed by a new comer need to do it well to succeed but don't need investor pressure to go down that route just need common sense

I agree re: assimilating new tech to not be disrupted My assumption around fiduciary duty driven development is because of how sloppy and quickly rolled out these features are Notion usually thinks a bit deeper about things, but maybe that culture is lost a decade in 90% of AI features are bad upsells IMO

i mean idk, they actually started pretty lite 2 years ago and slowly rolled out more their discourse seems like they were taking it seriously but been useless and sloppy the whole time nonetheless the feb 18 release looks good but haven't tried it it fucking sucks to see companies not be able to innovate and keep up beyond their initial moment of mojo
