hardware wallets aren't cold

just clarifying - meaning like if someone still saves their ledger key on computer anyways right?

if your ledger is ever connected to a computer that has touched the internet then any key that's ever been on that device or will ever be generated on that device in future shouldn't be considered 'cold'. 

nothing wrong with ledger. 
it's just that cold is a very specific thing.

cold is a key that has never been on a device that has ever been connected to the internet and never will be.  

i.e. key generated on an airgaped. only used for signing on airgraps. those airgraphs will always remain airgaps. 

good rule of thumb is: if a human is not required to physically take out a signed tx out of the device that signed it and put it in another device to broadcast then it's def not cold.
