so i hung around a good while but couldn't find anyone 
anyways. wanted to chat about the passkey smart wallet release. is it secp256r1 signature? how much is the gas cost for that with and without the precompile? any plans to turn off the fee for these on base?

Hey! We support secp256k1 and r1 signing, for r1/passkeys, we use https://github.com/base-org/webauthn-sol. 

I think after precompile this is like 45k? Before this is like 250k? But in either case on L2 right now this gas is < 1 cent. Most of the cost is from L1 calldata, which we hope comes down with 4844.

probably a dumb followup, does this need to be precompiled just on the l2 or l1? and is it activated already?

last i heard about this was 300k gwei. i guess post dancun that'd be priced similar to 30k today which isn't comparatively horrible but still quite a bit as compared to EOAs. 

just want to see if i'm thinking about this correctly or if y'all thinking about it any differently.

hey @kia.eth sorry we missed you.  yes secp256r1 signature.  let us check on precompile estimates.  we are exploring gas credits on base, probably wont be a blank check but a certain amount we could offer per user, especially for early adopters.
