I think I've casted about this a couple of times, but the past year has been verrrry interesting for me. Want to write out everything that went through in my head in retrospect so I can help someone in a similar situation

Around a year ago I moved to SF and got a small corner room in an apartment right across from the panhandle, pretty quickly I got a group of friends, and was overall settling in pretty well

I never really gave myself time to slow down though, so feelings of inadequacy started settling in

I think part of this was I had major imposture syndrome, but also part of it was I didn't do the small things to take care of myself

In hindsight at first these things were very small, like I slowly stopped working out, but started to spiral over time

at a certain point I had no patterns, no traditions, no routine

these things are in my opinion all very crucial if you want to do anything entrepreneurial

99% of the things that happen to you are out of your control, do the 1% that is in your control

If you don't do the 1%, it becomes a lot harder to believe in yourself, if you can't believe in yourself, why would a vc/co-founder/employee believe in you?

anyways around a year later now I'm roaming around the country for a bit, but am missing SF very badly

Compared to a year ago, here are some differences that I see in myself now:

1.) I want to host non tech stuff/help other people meet
I don't care if you work(ed) at google, I care if I like you as a person. I also think there are so many things people can go to if they care about that

Growing up I have fond memories of my grandparents hosting things. One thing I remember is that they knew exactly who to invite. There have been countless people who became close friends, or even married from things that they have done, if I can replicate 10% of that I'd be happy

2.) switch to a morning routine

wow a gen-z waking up at 6:30 AM, pretty crazy am i right

having time to not think about anything at the start of the day has been awesome


3.) think more in the moment, and have more focus

While yes, its good to think long term, this causes me to have decision paralysis. I end up trying to do 4d chess when I can't even play checkers

"oh damn, If I make this move and this thing happens then I'm fucked"

not really worth thinking like that

This also makes me prone to wanting to work on 7 things at once, which then leads to me not being able to do one thing :)

For context: my whole life I've always been focused on the next thing:

"I need to get a A on this test" -> "I need to complete this project" -> "I need to find a job" -> "I need to move to SF" -> etc

This mindset has been great in the past, but I think it became a bit too much for me at a certain point

I want to start using airstack for this stuff (also so I can become a better speaker) but feel like this is way more free flowing
