I think my childhood was not as convicted as my adulthood, that I would complacently settle for having fun without presence, just immersing and escaping.

life != spirit. anyone can optimize for bliss, and maybe part of our "stewardship" as apex social animals is to blend into what already works. however, as we've repeatedly found, we are not just social animals, and many diverge sharply & riskily, realizing a very profane isolation from the regular flow.
yet that irregularity, just like dynamic equilibrium and entropy and evolution, all of these tease forward more optimal paths than any comfort could reveal. acclimating to this path leads to a deeper meaning of "fun", whether that's a conscious entity or not. 1 reply
