New Club Case Studies on keiretsus Earlier this year, I read Alliance Capitalism by Michael Gerlach to learn about keiretsus in post-war Japan. They're clusters of independently managed firms defined by shared governance mechanisms, partial cross-shareholding, and interlocking directorates. They aren't models to emulate, but some of their disadvantages could be mitigated by transparent, voluntary cross-shareholding mechanisms today. They could also be a way for infrastructure projects, which require research with different financial risk models, to bootstrap overall funding. Like an interactive, inner library of our work together, we build context spaces through collecting discussions, notes, and historical and cultural references. Organizations then own these memory threads that they can revisit in conversation at any time after the workshops conclude. It’s a reference to a linking book in the Myst computer game that has a snake and an eye constellation For me it relates to the memory and library themes of my consultancy named Inner Library I’m not expecting others to get this from the image necessarily but I wanted a small and personally meaningful image to accompany occasional posts
