As I might have anticipated my first post is turning into a long read but I’m enjoying it. It’s called, right now: Thresholds of Autonomy Intelligences, Avatars, Egregores, Organizations Hopefully published next week

The idea that pluralism and freedom are opposites, rather than each a side of the same hand, is the most vital mistake in political understanding right now At some times this mistake is willed and at other times it’s unconscious - a belief that rights are zero sum and that restrictions won’t eventually harm you too

I guess the first thing I think of are technologies about knowing / learning more that don’t have a strictly deterministic idea of what can be known, like invention of telescopes and other sensing devices Ofc these can be in service to hyperstition tech but seem somehow not confined by it

A densely simple way to put it: The teleology of most branches of popular technology today is to make hyperstition real

I think this pattern also came from projects that did early token/ ICO fundraising pre 2019 that were comparatively pretty geographically distributed

What are the best actual proposals for thinking about the economic transition (job loss from AI, recession, etc.)? More actual proposals, less hand wavy how things should be

I think it might have been easier a thousand years ago to think of history in terms of grand agential arcs, but it’s hard not to see it now as the accretion of billions of near arbitrary dice rolls cast with affinity
