Lol looks like a person starting a family in London among many other Tier 1 cities in the world with high cost of living. 1. Balance cut of costs/taxes with quality of life 2.Find ways to free up time/capacity to increase wages Iterate

Sure, on a continuum some time free'd up is better than none but the more the better. Ultimately time is the only constant so if you can get more to invest in something that reduces costs further or increases wealth it's all that's left beyond a high risk/high reward throwaway like lotteries, speculative investments etc.
