yeah, I think all forms of despair should be treated as liabilities. not entirely avoidable/solvable with de minimis market discovery, but we might as well legalize all drug markets if this sort of PMF has amnesty.

I am inclined towards this too. Just create some concentration camp where we can minimally feed and house the addicts and let them go live there if that’s what they want to do.

I don't think concentration camps is the right framing, cause it implies a breakup of normal "functional members of society" vibes. ultimately, there's no distinction from the correctional institution as is. idk if there's a clear line here. I'm uncomfortable with either extreme, cause on one side there's false negative liability (regulated markets ultimately harm consumers through corruption or concentration), but otoh, addicts make every space the same open-air prison, with all the consequent misdemeanor preying on the rest of society that doesn't even want to be involved. I think there should be something like Slab City (nobody else wants to be there) with prohibitive sales tax that's discounted for residents & golden visas for quality control. still not completely thought-out, but the current situation is everyone trapped with everyone, and it's horrible.
