I was hoping Mastodon would gain steam since its structural framework aligns closely to academics with each field having its own server. But guess that didn’t catch on.

I suspect that most people who complained about it getting worse, didn't know how to use it properly and were just letting "the algorithm" show them posts. If you only view posts of people you choose to follow in chronological order, then it should have been just as good or what do you think?
