The challenges Americans face in being and staying healthy and well is a national security issue, and we should frame it as such more often

Sorry, I'm being too cynical and pessimistic. My hunch is that the groups most likely to benefit from reframing fitness as national security are the least likely to comply. They will instead eschew personal fitness in favor of more guns, framing fitness as a product of the woke mind virus. Skip the gym, grab a Glock.

ok so there are interesting things to dissect here 1/2 1. your hypothesis kind of off base as it stands at least for todays cultural moment. fitness culture is largely rw coded. they need guns (real) and guns (biceps) https://unherd.com/thepost/being-fit-is-far-right-now-apparently/

2. Contra to this perception of “rw == fitness”, to your point there is a massive partisan divide in life expectancy “The most impoverished quartile of U.S. counties in Yankeedom have a higher life expectancy than the least impoverished quartile of U.S. counties in the Deep South by 0.3 years.”

Consistent with my knowledge on the subject, albeit from other reports on longevity by region. Hunch: I doubt rw culture can compete with their lw counterparts as far as fitness. Their relationship to evidence and science isn't great and I bet woo swells their muscles as quickly as it trims their life expectancy.

I think this is somewhat incorrect. Crunchy rw health is now upstream of health trends that have permeated to all groups. (anti seed oils being example). There is value in their anti establishment approach—yes they often do take it too far. But tbf, establishment has earned the distrust! Rebuilding trust 🔑 key

This absolutely mirrors what I've seen. It's amazing watching rw suddenly "discovering" health trends that were progressively popular decade+ ago. There's also the weird unscientific stuff too, like all meat diets etc, but overall it does seem like overall they're catching on.

I am saying the opposite lol, that it goes rw —> mainstream. What’s a good example of a progressive health trend like you’re thinking!??

Oh really? Lol! Interesting. Anti-factory farmed meat, grass fed, organic, low carb, gluten reduction, sourdough, probiotics+gut health in general. Read your post too fast and imported my own bias! What are examples you're thinking besides anti seed oils (now that I understand your point 😂)
