I tied my shoes too tight during a 🏃‍♀️ race last year, and as a result lost a toenail a few weeks ago Even though it wasn’t painful at any point I lost my mind when it first happened and was late to a party as I dawdled around my apartment freaking out about being able to touch the soft skin under the nail. I carefully protected it (from what I don’t even know). But now that it’s been gone awhile I don’t care anymore and it’s kind of fascinating. When you lose a nail an almost shadow nail forms. The skin changes. I am watching myself heal from an injury I have never experienced before. Is this how people who break a bone for the first time feel? Will probably be another 6 months before I have anything resembling a nail there.

broke my left humerus bone straight in half from slipping on ice right before COVID 0/10 would not recommend, took around 8 months to have an arm again (sorta) and 12 months total before normal range of movement still don’t have symmetrical left/right strength in my deltoid, trapezius, and bicep among other muscles

OMG. I am so sorry. That is one awful break. I hope it was your non-dominant arm. 😭

it’s cool, it forced me to reevaluate a lot of things. I had iffy help from the medical establishment: didn’t even get a sling at the hospital, no physio covered, paid for every appointment along the way. no help from the gov, didn’t qualify for any benefits. no help from my parents. really had to dig deep into my resilience and then not too long after recovery started to find my footing in my career and entered a prosperous era after that. high level it will also likely be the catalyst for my serious fitness arc since I will need to correct my musculature and flexibility at some point soon 😂
