The past year for me has been really lonely. The loneliness has caused me to revise a lot of priors. And also has given me a ton of contempt for technologists who have it all figured out and talk about lonely people as if we are animals to study in a lab. “What should we do for them” “We can’t allow them to have AI friends” “Maybe you just need a roommate” Ironically—leave us alone!

I would say I have learned (not all revised priors but) WHATEVER you need to do — DO IT. Antidepressants, AI companions, therapy, whatever. Don't let moralizing have-it-alls make you feel bad about the choices you make to get through days that feel endless. This was my biggest revised prior. More people don't solve your problems. One good friend who understands you is worth a million invites to parties. Where you live matters. You can have that dog in you from anywhere, but not everywhere is right for you. Helping others always helps.
