One of the most unexpected casualties of the “Make America Healthy Again” is Kevin Hall, a preeminent researcher on obesity, metabolism and ultraprocessed foods He claims he had no choice—Fed gov insistent on interfering with work, censoring I first learned of Kevin’s work in the book “Ultraprocessed People” which tells the story of his landmark study that gave scientific heft to the idea of UPFs—and violated Hall’s own priors

When even top researchers like Hall are sidelined for findings that don’t align with institutional narratives, it’s not just censorship, it’s a signal failure of scientific incentive design. Public health agencies need to be structured in a way that rewards intellectual honesty, not allegiance. Otherwise, the research becomes propaganda in disguise
