The book more or less opens with an examination of historical forestry practices. The arguments within would give you a lot more intellectual backfill for your complaint here

100% agree The mechanical / industrial way of looking at living systems was useful at one point, but has outlived its use now Need to shift to thinking about the planet as one living system. I doubt our current economic system would tolerate that though
